Description
Properties of Wild Luwak Coffee:
l Lower Caffeine Content: Due to the natural fermentation process in the civet’s digestive system, Wild Luwak Coffee tends to have slightly less caffeine compared to conventional coffee.
l Rich in Probiotics: The fermentation process introduces beneficial microorganisms, making the coffee gentler on the stomach and potentially aiding digestion.
l Enhanced Flavor Profile: The natural fermentation process breaks down proteins in the beans, resulting in reduced bitterness and a smoother, richer taste.
l Unique Aroma: Known for its distinctive, earthy aroma that coffee enthusiasts treasure.
l Premium Quality: Beans are carefully selected and inspected, ensuring only the best make it to the final product.
l Antioxidants: Like all coffee, it is rich in antioxidants, which may support overall health by combating oxidative stress.
Wild Luwak Coffee Beans from Mandailing, Sumatra, Indonesia
Experience the distinctive flavor of our wild Luwak coffee beans, harvested with care and respect for nature. These coffee cherries come from Mandailing, a region on Bukit Barisan mountain in North Sumatra, Indonesia, known worldwide for its premium coffee.
To ensure our coffee is made in harmony with wild civets, we transport the
cherries to the forested region of Bandung, where wild civets roam freely.
Here, we scatter the coffee cherries, hoping the civets will naturally consume
them. The result? Fermented coffee beans, uniquely enriched by the civet’s
digestive process, which we call the “beginning of Luwak coffee.”
Once civets have processed the cherries, we carefully collect the beans left
throughout the forest. Collection is often limited to a small quantity each
day, as each batch depends on nature’s timing and the civets’ habits.
Our beans undergo a meticulous cleaning process, ensuring no residue or impurities remain. Only the finest beans make it through this selection to guarantee our customers the highest quality.
- Drying & Processing
Once cleaned, the beans are sun-dried in open fields, weather
permitting. During the rainy season, we shift them to a greenhouse to air-dry, which can reduce production by up to 50%. This seasonal impact contributes to the price fluctuations significantly.
When perfectly dried, the beans are husked in a shelling machine to remove their outer layer, making them ready for roasting. Our roasting process brings the beans to a rich medium roast, unlocking the coffee’s unique aroma, flavors, and nutrients.
- To Enjoy Such A Premium Coffee
For a single cup of Luwak coffee (approximately 240ml or 8 ounces), the standard recommendation is to use 10-12 grams (about 2 tablespoons) of coffee powder. This ensures the rich flavor and aroma of the coffee are fully extracted, especially for such a premium product.
Adjust the quantity slightly based on personal taste preferences or the brewing method (e.g., French press, drip, or espresso).
- Order Information
Due to the wild and natural harvesting process, we maintain a lead
time of approximately 30 days for collection and production.
- Pricing
As coffee is a commodity with fluctuating prices strongly influenced by various factors—such as seasonal weather changes, production levels, and demand—the price of our wild Luwak coffee is updated every two weeks.
This ensures fair pricing for our limited, naturally harvested coffee.
- Packaging
In compliance with Indonesian regulations, a locally registered brand name must be displayed on the packaging of exported Luwak coffee. Our registered brand name is SAWARGA. However, we offer packaging customization to accommodate clients’ specific requests, provided the requested brand name is registered in Indonesia in accordance with local laws.
Please note that the full cost of customized packaging must be paid upfront. This cost will then be deducted proportionally from each subsequent production order.
On our own SAWARGA packaging:
- Citarasa Pasundan=An Authentic Indonesian Taste
- SNI mark: Standard National Indonesia
- HALAL mark: HALAL certified
- Female Beans Only – Better Quality, Superior Taste
